How fintech firms in Taiwan prepare the trial balance for an assurance visit
A practical packing list for finance leads who must hand over clean ledgers before auditors arrive on site.
When a payment firm or digital lender books an assurance engagement, the trial balance is the first document auditors open. Incomplete mappings between product codes and ledger accounts create friction that stretches fieldwork by days.
Start by locking the period. Freeze journals after the cut-off date and list every manual entry posted afterward with a short explanation. Auditors for fintech entities pay close attention to settlement suspense, merchant payable ageing, and any wallets that hold customer funds overnight.
Reconcile each bank and custody account to the general ledger before the first fieldwork day. Attach screenshots or PDF confirmations rather than linking to live portals that change after the sample date.
Finally, prepare a one-page product map: which revenue lines relate to interchange, float income, or fee-based lending. That map saves repeated clarifying questions during substantive testing and keeps the management letter focused on control findings rather than chart-of-accounts archaeology.
